The Rig Shop (TRS) have recently developed a new BIGBOAT rope jointly with Liros - respected manufacturers of quality performance ropes for use on large racing and cruising yachts.

Known as SUPER-FGR, it features low stretch, with high abrasion resistance and high fatigue capability. With high abrasion resistance it is equally desirable for racing and cruising applications where the loads are considerable.

The construction features three layers - two covers and an inner core:

1) The outer protective cover is produced with twisted yarns, improving abrasion resistance.

2) The inner cover reduces the slip between the outer cover and core and is produced from braided polypropylene.

3) The core is produced from the latest development of High Modulus Polyethylene (HMP) offering great strength with low stretch. Various degrees of core coatings are available for differing applications - halliards, sheets, etc.

The new rope has already been fully tested onboard a number of Superyachts, and has been selected by J Class and IACC Yachts for their racing applications.
