Nordic Carbon Masts (UK Agent)

Logo

With more than 25 years of experience in mast and rig building, Nordic Mast were among the pioneers when carbon fibres entered the yachting industry. Since then they have produced one of the biggest series of carbon fibre masts for X-Yachts, in excess of 130 masts, for the successful IMX 40 and IMX 45.

Since 1989, Nordic Mast have been building masts in carbon fibre for yachts ranging from 30 to 95 ft. Nordic Mast is now capable of building masts for yachts of up to approximately 125 ft.
Production of carbon fibre masts has become Nordic Masts speciality, attaching great importance to detail and customer requirements. The integrated components of these masts are all made of carbon fibre, providing optimal strength, weight, and corrosion resistance. Nordic Mast manufacture the mast profile using a ”Female Mould Autoclave” with a pressure of up to 6 Bar. This produces the best finish on the hardened mast profile, with the reinforcements as required inside the mast. The benefits of a carbon fibre mast are manifold; in addition to the balance between strength and weight, the life of a carbon fibre mast is basically infinite. This overcomes the traditional problems of aluminium masts in terms of oxidation and metal fatigue, which will not occur with carbon fibre. Other benefits include:

As UK agents for Nordic Masts, The Rig Shop combine our expertise in all areas of masts and rigging to ensure that every element of the project is carefully considered, and nothing is overlooked. We place a great deal of importance on offering a complete package, bringing together all the elements of the mast, rigging, deck fittings and even sail inventory to ensure that we offer a total service.

Latest Project

The Rig Shop have just completed a full mast and rigging package on a Grainger 48 Catamaran. The owner chose a Nordic Carbon mast with a Rig Shop standing and running rigging package. This project brought together every element of The Rig Shop, including the design and manufacture of a number of custom fittings as well as a range of composite cables. The standing and running rigging elements were added in Southampton before shipping the mast to Liverpool, where it was dressed and stepped successfully for the owner.
